Things to Consider When Selecting a Domain Name

Selecting a good website name is paramount when designing a website. It is the first thing that people see when visiting your website, so it is comparable to making a good first impression.

Bad domain names are like unpaid bills; they suck to have around, and you might not be able to afford to get rid of it. This is why it is very important to select a good domain name. You cannot change a domain name once you buy one; you either keep the one you have or you purchase another.

Your company and domain name are both equally important, thus should warrant the same amount of consideration. Both are ways of identifying your company, and both are recognized by your client base.

When selecting a domain name, you should consider just using the name that you already have for your company. This streamlines the process and ultimately results in a quicker selection. Including your location in the domain name is a pretty smart marketing tactic, especially if your original domain name choice has already been taken by someone else.

Putting a location in your domain name is really not a bad idea. The Internet is huge, and it is easy for a small business to be swallowed up in the crowd of competitors. By incorporating your location into your domain name, you make it easier for people to find you using search engines.

The specificity of your domain name can make all the difference between driving a huge amount of traffic to your site and getting only a couple visitors a day. When developing your brand, you should always be mindful of techniques to improve and refine your target market.

Adding other words the beginning of your domain name, such as “the” or “my”, is a good way to circumvent the problematic issue of having your chosen domain name picked by someone else before you. It also grants a sense of familiarity to your name by adding a personal touch.

Searching for domain name can be a tedious process, but with the proper techniques, you can find something that perfectly fits you. Following some of the pointers in this article should help you greatly.

Free Domain Parking

1. First of all you need to register a domain name with a registrar that you fully own and have control over

2. Then you need to find a good and decent domain parking company to use. There are a lot of them out there but finding a good one can be like finding a needle in a haystack but I have recommended the company I use later on in the article.

OK great so you have done the two steps above and are now ready to start making money with this method. There are a lot of reasons for using a free domain parking company, the main ones being that you don’t have to pay for hosting, you can design your landing page using the online editing tools that the company you have chosen has available to you. Also if you don’t have a lot of experience in designing websites it is also a much quicker option also.

Once you have a account with a parking company you will tend to need to change the DNS of your domain name to theirs, This is simple and can be done via your control panel with the company who you have registered your domain name with, It takes 2 minutes to do and around 48 hours maximum to resolve to the parking companies servers. The reason you have to do this is because your domain name will be hosted on their servers and this will configure your domain name correctly so people can see your landing page.

Some parking companies charge you to use their services, I don’t know why as you are earning them money so look around there are a massive amount of free domain parking companies for you to use, And make sure you get a minimum of 80% of the parked revenue your generate as a minimum, after all its your domain name that is making them money.Shop around when looking for a free domain parking company

Spend a bit of time creating a nice landing page also, it make take say 30 minutes to do but it will be worth it in the long run and is proved that a nice landing page with relevant content to your domain names traffic will produce a much better click through rate on the ads shown on your landing page, and as much as 70% more in revenue so just spend that little extra time, The same applies to choosing your keywords, doing this correctly is important as you want to show relevant adverts which are related to your domains traffic, if the traffic is fishing related then show fishing related adverts, don’t choose something like mortgages, simple stuff but a lot of people miss this very important point.

I have been using free domain parking companies for over 10 years now and I recommend trying this lucrative market out.

I have been domain parking for over 10 years now, I do recommend this company for your needs http://www.parksdot.com

Internet Network Marketing – What’s in a Domain Name?

So what is in a domain name? A critical mistake most people make is choosing a domain name that is completely wrong for their website. This ends up costing lots of time, effort and most of all money. In these few paragraphs, I will: explain what a domain name is, show you the difference between a bad one and an effective one, what the domain name trap is and how to avoid it, and the importance of keywords when choosing a domain name.

The domain name is the part that goes after www. when you type an address in your web browser. It usually ends with.com,.net,.org but there are other endings like.biz,.info, and so on and so forth. There also endings such as.co.uk that specifies what country the domain is for. For example Amazon’s domain name is Amazon.com (and Amazon.co.uk is its UK version). Your domain name is at the center of all you are trying to accomplish with Your Internet Network Marketing business. Unless you have unlimited resources, manpower, or are globally recognized brand, making sure the name you choose is SEO friendly is a must have asset.

I understand that everybody wants to have that one of a kind name that rolls off the tongue and is catchy. I mean who even heard of the word Google 15 years ago. Now it’s a culture. Just like Twitter and Facebook are now cultures. People see this and think I’m going to think up an ultra hip name for my business. Only thing is they never stop to think about the keywords or phrases that need to be considered. These ultra hip names very rarely are successful and don’t tell the story of the hundreds maybe even thousands of businesses that fail because they chose the wrong domain name for their business.

A domain name with your targeted keyword or key phrase in it is one of the factors that the search engines look for when they are ranking your web page. Combining this with other SEO factors makes your web page a strong candidate for a front page ranking. Having the exact match keyword in the domain name gives 100% keyword density. This means even if you are in a market with larger more established companies, your page will out rank them because the actual keyword or phrase that was typed into the search engine is in your domain name.

If you do your due diligence when searching for keywords before starting your web page, placing the actual keyword or phrase in your domain name should help you to dominate any market you choose. Build your business around a strong domain name and the sky is the limit. It’s where every successful internet network marketing business should start.

Foster Brand Retention With Your Domain Name

Establishing your brand on the web can be a difficult task to master. With so much of competition all around, businesses are finding it increasingly difficult to carve a niche for themselves and impress targeted online users. Search engine rankings are still paramount, but the brand retention value of your business is playing an increasingly bigger role in influencing revenues.

Therefore, when it comes to choosing the domain name for your online business, you have to focus on the brand value it carries. We often see webmasters littering their domain name with keywords, so much so that it gives a very generic impression that has absolutely no relevance to your brand.

It is always advisable to use a name that your users can relate to and retain. Only then will you be able to bring in return visitors and increase your possibilities of converting them.

However, if your brand is not very popular, you will have a hard time getting people to search for it. For example, ‘rockshoes.com’ might be the website of a shoe company called ‘Rock’, but how many online users know about it? In such a case, companies have to spend a huge e-marketing budget to promote this domain name and get traffic to the site. It might, therefore, not be the best strategy for a small or medium enterprise that is just getting into the world of online business.

However, there is a midway that you can opt for. Use a combination of branding, keywords and generic terminology for your domain name to improve the rankability of your domain name. For example, take one of your chosen keywords and add a generic word in the end. Names such as FlightsCity, BookHub, etc., have SEO value built into them, because the domain name itself prompts users to use your keywords in the link. Search engines get the keyword they are looking for and users get a unique branding that they can retain for a longer time.

When you decide to buy a domain name, make sure you opt for a reliable domain name registration company that offers you the best choices at effective prices. There are a number of companies in the market that offer cheap domain names and all kinds of extensions for your domain. Aussie Web Hosting, the premier domain registration company is Australia, is an online services company that offers domain names at great rates.

5 Simple Steps to Setting Up Your Domain Name

If you are deciding to use a blog whether it is for business or personal reasons then in most cases you will need to set up a domain name for your blog. To get a domain you can follow these steps:

Step 1

Find a domain registering company: There are many of these available on the net. For example, well known companies are GoDaddy and Namecheap. These companies can offer a range of services however, there main aim is helping you find a domain and registering it.

Step 2

If you have already thought of a domain name and you are on the name registration site you will see a domain name search facility. This facility will find if your choice of name is available. Type in your preferred name and the search facility will come up with the results of what names are available. If the name that you have your heart set on is not available the registration company should automatically provide you with similar alternatives to choose from.

Step 3

When you have selected your preferred choice you will then be asked how long you want to register the name for. The usual length of time is one year however, some companies may offer shorter periods or longer than 1 year. Usually if you register for a longer period you will receive a discount on the cost of the registration fee.

Step 4

When you have selected how long you want to register the name you can now proceed to the payment section and enter in your credit card details to pay the registration. Before making payment make sure the details are correct and check the terms and conditions. One of the great benefits of having an online business or presence is the relative low cost to run it. The average price to register a domain name for a website or blog is at the time of print less than $10. Compare that cost to renting a real brick and mortar business.

Step 5

When you have put in the necessary payment details, pressed the payment button and your details have been accepted a confirmation will be sent to the email address that you registered with the domain registration company. Save the email confirmation in a file for future reference and print out a paper copy and file it safely.

That is it. Once you have your domain name purchased the next stage is to find a web host as you will need one in order for your blog to have a presence on the web.

Newbie 5 Golden Rules For Buying Domain Names & Reselling Them For Profit

Are you a newbie looking to buy domain names and then resell them at a profit? Here are five golden rules to live by:

Golden Rule # 1. Buy dotcoms only. Until you get more experience, stay away from ccTlds such as dotcc, dotws, dotpk, dotms etc. The key reason why you want to do this is because dotcoms are still king and are in more demand than any other extension.

Plus, you have more wiggle room in selling a poor dotcom. You are more likely to sell a dud dotcom than a dud dotms or dotws. Just go to DnJournal dotcom on a weekly basis and read the domain sales chart and you’ll see dotcoms still rule.

Golden Rule # 2. Register names that can be identified with a product or service rather than registering cute or fancy brandable names.

You should do this because for the most part, buyers of domains want domain names that are descriptive and can easily signify to the customer what their businesses are about. Don’t forget that that business owners don’t want prospective customers to have to guess what their business is about when they see their domain names.

Golden Rule # 3. Don’t go crazy registering loads of domain names. This is certainly advisable because as a newbie, you might end up spending a lot of money on poor names that you are unable to sell. Register a few dot coms first, say 5 or so names, then try to sell those before buying names

Golden Rule # 4, Don’t over pay for domain names. Again, until you learn the business a bit better, stick to buying domains in the $5-$20 range. Remember, you aim is to buy domains and resell them at a profit.

Golden Rule # 5, Promote your domains for sale. You could do this by Setting up a blog and listing your domains. Then you can write articles promoting that blog and submit the article to article directories. This is an important step because relying on a potential buyer to find you can be a slow, painstaking process.

If your primary objective is to buy domain names and then resell them, then follow these time-tested rules. They have been proved to be noteworthy for many who have used them before you. Follow them scrupulously for ultimate success and great satisfaction.

I Just Bought a Domain Name – Now What Do I Do With it?

As you can probably guess by the title, this article isn’t for those of you that already know what you’re going to do with your new web address. Maybe you intend to put a web site on it; maybe you were only looking for a personalized email address; in any case you bought it with a clear idea of what you wanted to do with it. No, this article is intended for the folks who purchased a domain name because they thought they might be able to find a use for it later.

A lot of people are thinking about going into business on the web; they’ve heard about all the money being made online, and like most people they’d like their share. They’ve also heard that the best domain names are disappearing fast and they want to get theirs before somebody else does. Not a bad idea at all! Domain names–at least those that haven’t already been registered by somebody else – are cheap; but not having the right name for your business is going to cost you a lot. Remember, a domain name is more than just a name, it’s your address on the web and the Royal Road to your business’s front door.

So you’ve bought the domain name you think you might want but you’re not ready yet to put your business website on it. You’re right, there are a lot of things to consider; things like what kind of business and what product line? You’ve got to have those straight in your head before you even start thinking about what the site’s going to look like or who’s going to build it. So take your time; there’s always going to be room on the web for another good widget distributor. Or maybe you’re still developing that “better mousetrap” we’ve been hearing about forever; with the right domain name the world will indeed be able to find its way to your door. In the meantime what about your domain name? What happens to it?

Well, you can just sit on it while you work on your better mousetrap. As long as you pay your ten bucks or so every year it will be held for you by your registrar who is more than happy to collect the money off the ads that will run on it. That’s right, the registrar will likely get the ad money off your domain name. But don’t let that bother you, unless you’ve got a wow! domain name like sex.com or something similar the money is apt to amount to a few pennies a year.

On the other hand, if you do want those pennies, then many registrars offer you a number of free options with your domain name that you can take advantage of and make that money yourself. Free starter websites, for example. These sites are easy to build; it amounts to little more than uploading some pictures or a video and writing a few lines of text; all stuff you’ve probably done already on Facebook or Twitter. These free sites come with ads for your registrar but the ads are generally pretty unobtrusive and the sites large enough (generally 4 to 5 pages) to allow ads of your own. Where to get ads, you ask? Easy, Bing, Google and Yahoo will be glad to put ads on your site and share the money with you. Building a free site might take a few valuable hours of your time better spent on developing that better mousetrap, but the experience could prove invaluable later when you are ready to build your actual business site even if you’re having it built for you by a professional; it never hurts to know a little about something you’re paying to have done. Of course if you don’t care about advertising you can always create a more personal website to showoff your family and pets.

Another free option usually provided with your website (get yourself another registrar if you don’t get these options!), is a full-featured email address. You don’t need a website on line to take advantage of this. Even if your mousetrap won’t be ready for years it will help to have your email address already out there and working for you with your contacts. In addition there are provisions for free blogs and picture portfolios, forwarding and masking (you can redirect your traffic to an existing website with these if you already have one site up and running), and even free sites that offer your domain for sale.

Whether you sit on it, earn money with it or simply entertain yourself, its your domain name and might someday become one of your most valuable possessions. In any case check out some of the free options that came along with it. You might be surprised at what you’ll find.

Top-Level Domain – What it is and Which One to Choose

TLD is the abbreviation for Top Level Domain (TLD). In the domain name system hierarchy of the Internet, the TLD acquires the highest level. In the name space, the top-level domain names are installed in the root zone. Let us take an example of TLD in www[dot]yourwebsite.com; the TLD is “.com”.

Responsible organizations such as the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which is also in charge of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), and manages the majority of TLDs. Initially, the TLD space was bifurcated in three main groups such as Countries, Multi-organizations and Categories.

In the domain name system (DNS), a country is specified based on its ISO country code. However, due to the fast-paced growth of the Internet, there was a dire need for creating more and more generic TLDs.

Owing to this, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) came up with the following distinguishing TLDs:

1. Country Code Top-Level Domain Names: These are two letter domains meant for territories or countries. With some historical exceptions, the code given to any country is based on its two-letter ISO 3166 code. When it comes to search engines, this is the most beneficial TLD as search engines give prime importance to web sites that possess the top level domain of the country from which the search is conducted. A country-specific TLD also proves beneficial when it comes to the inclusion of web sites in the country directories. This in turn increases the chances of the web site to rank higher in the results of search engines. The country-specific TLD also increases the buyer’s confidence levels as the buyer, by watching the TLD, considers the web site to be a local one.

2. Generic Top-Level Domain Names: These are TLDs comprised of three or more characters.

3. Infrastructure Top-Level Domain: This domain group comprises only one domain known as the Address and Routing Parameter Area (ARPA).

4. Sponsored Top-Level Domains: Private organizations or agencies set up the infrastructure for TLDs. The organizations dictate rules limiting the use of the TLDs, which are normally based on the community themes.

As recently as November 2009, an additional group of top level domains (TLDs) known as the internationalized domain name (IDN) was also set up for testing.

For better results, it is advisable for you to purchase both the country code TLD as well as the.com, as it can help you appeal to customers both nationally and at the international level.

What Are the Differences Between Domain Names and Web Hosting?

There are a lot of people who think that domain names and web hosting are one and the same and that they are just two different names for the same service. But that is not the truth and we would in the remainder of this article try to look at some of the differences between the two.

When you buy a domain name, you would basically get a domain name along with a starter web page that would have very little scope as far as the customization is concerned. But when you buy a hosting service, you get lots of things. Some of them are a free domain name, customized email, etc. There would also be some site building tools in the package along with some disk space that will help you in creating a website of your own. All these features are not available with the domain name but with the hosting service, you not only have all these features but also some e-commerce features.

Another differentiating factor is the price of these two online software building tools. One would have to pay anywhere between two dollars to thirty five dollars annually for seeking the domain name services but for the web hosting services, one would have to pay a lot more and that lot more would generally be in the range of eight to fifteen dollars a month. The price differentiation is quite understandable as the web hosting service has much more to offer when compared to domain name services.

If you want the difference in a nutshell, then domain names are generally an identity for your website on the internet whereas web hosting is more than just an identity and it is very useful if you are into online business.

Web hosting and domain names generally go hand in hand and if you have intentions of building up your own website then it is recommended that you buy a hosting package along with the domain names. And if you are buying both of them, then buy then from the same provider rather than going for multiple providers.

Buying a domain name is like buying a residential address whereas buying web hosting is like renting in an apartment. There is a huge difference between the two and that is the same difference between hosting and domains. Like domain names, appropriate attention should also be given while choosing a hosting service if you want to be successful at your online venture.

The Business of the Domain Name – An Important Time Investment

In this day and age, just about any product or service can be purchased, advertised, or sold on the World Wide Web. The development of the ever changing, constantly growing field of technology has allowed both consumers and businesses to expand their territory in terms of whether or not products are made available to the general public in a traditional store setting or in cyberspace.

Consequently, the rise of the Internet business and the supplemental websites of more traditional businesses has made sales easier than ever for those with computer savvy. Because the Internet can play such a crucial role in business, there are certain considerations associated with selecting an appropriate domain name for a website.

Of course, the consumer’s ease of locating the website is of utmost importance. For this reason, selecting a domain name should revolve around this very important objective. If the business website cannot be easily found, the potential site visits and resulting sales will be very limited. For this obvious reason, selecting a domain name should never be taken lightly. The ultimate success, or failure, of your business may hinge on it.

A domain name that is identical to that of the business name is ideal for several reasons.

First, the website will be easy for prospective visitors to remember. Second, this allows for the average person to be able to guess the website and find it immediately without having to search extensively for it on some Internet search engine. It is true that finding an available domain name may not be so simple. Unfortunately, other websites may already be using the exact name of an existing business, and you may find that every logical variation of that name is also taken.

In this case, the next best option is to select keywords that are associated with the business and its purpose.

Search engines function with the use of keywords. By selecting rich keywords, a business can make itself available for when a potential customer seeking a specific service or product enters that keyword into a search engine. Another option is to register multiple keyword-associated names and redirect them to the functional website in order to maximize traffic.

There is some controversy over the use of special characters in domain names. In truth, there is no right or wrong answer to whether businesses should include them in their domain names. If the business name is already taken by another domain name, perhaps simply adding a hyphen may resolve the issue. There is no definitive answer to the dilemma. It is important, whatever you decide, that you keep the domain name as simple and easy to remember as possible, with or without special characters.

The main criticism to using special characters in a domain name is the possibility that potential visitors could forget the characters and end up at the wrong website. If possible, this can be controlled to some extent by registering both versions of the domain name; one with the special character or characters, and one without. Handing out business cards with the web address prominently shown, being sure that Internet users know about the special characters and their placement, will help to prevent the loss of prospective business.

Sometimes you will come across promo codes that need to be typed or pasted into the registration form during checkout. Click on “apply code” and the total will be recalculated accordingly. If it isn’t, then the discount isn’t valid and you need to find another one that is.

The most popular domain names are the ones that end in.com. However, these can also be the most expensive. As such, you need to look for a GoDaddy domain name coupon that will help you save on a.com, if it’s the one you want. Other extensions include.info,.net,.org,.biz,.us, and several others. Currently, GoDaddy is offering a free.info for every.com purchased.

Some of the coupons you find can only be used if you register a domain for a certain amount of years. The cheapest is one year, but the more years you register, the more you can save. If you only register for one year, and your site becomes popular, you will obviously want to renew it when it’s about to expire. Sometimes renewals can be a bit costly, so you’re better off registering for two or more years to start with.

While there are certainly other domain registrars out there, GoDaddy is by far the best. On average, this company offers domain and web hosting services of up to 70% less than others! Coupons will help you get the best and cheapest deal possible. When using a Godaddy domain name coupon, you will be provided with not only a very cheap domain registration, but freebies as well, including a free site builder, email forwarding, total DNS control, photo album, getting started guide, and a lot more.

Get started with a GoDaddy domain name coupon and get great deals on your domain purchases and hosting plans. GoDaddy not only offers the best rates, it also offers the best service and customer support. All of your webmaster needs will be taken care of if you choose this registrar!

How to Choose a Good Domain Name – Tips and Tricks

How to choose a good domain name – Now, this is a big topic, but here are some tips:

- In order of priority: .com,.co.uk,.net. If possible, get all 3.

- An aged domain is better than a new one, as Google ranks older domains higher. You can buy an aged domain from several sites online. But don’t worry, a brand new one is fine too, it will just take a little longer to rank.

- To rank higher, it is better to have a keyword or two in the domain itself.

- Better not to have hyphens, but this is not a show stopper. So for eg, if ‘bluecars’ is taken, ‘blue-cars’ is fine. But don’t use more than 2 hyphens, otherwise it can look like a spam type site.

- Long domains are ok – but don’t go beyond 4-5 words max.

Forwarding a domain to another site: Be very careful about forwarding domain names to another domain (your main site). If Google finds out this is what is happening you run the risk of all domains in question being sandboxed or penalised. This is a long-term risk which only you can decide. Some people do this, some people take a more conservative view. If you do decide to redirect, make sure it is done using a 302 permanent redirect, not 301 temporary.

The alternative is to have one-page sites for the domains that are not your primary site. This can be done easily using eg wordpress.org (have to install software) or weebly.com (very quick and easy – drag and drop) where you can quickly create a free website. These websites will need to be optimised and so you will need a fresh set of keywords for each site. On these sites, you would have links to your main site, eg ‘For more information click here.’

The advantage of having several sites is that you (and no one else) owns those domains, especially if you have found some good ones, and if you have keyword-rich domains, they can rank more easily for those terms. They also provide links into your main site which are good for your main site’s rankings.

Having said that focussing on one main site is ok too, as the more you have the more work is involved, it depends on what you want and it may be best to remain focussed.

Domain Web Hosting – Selecting Domain Names

A domain, Web hosting and business email are three of the basic requirements for expanding a business online, but their importance cannot be emphasized enough. A domain name, especially, is vital for any business. The Internet is vast and there are millions of companies that do business online, and domain names are how individuals, companies or organizations identify themselves online.

Different businesses have different ways of creating an online presence. Some businesses simply use domain names that are identical to their organization’s name or its abbreviation. Others incorporate their product or service offering into their domain for easier name recall and better searchability.

The second naming option is especially useful if businesses wish to increase traffic to their website. A lot of businesses select domains that contain keywords that people are most likely to enter in a search engine. If the business website comes up in people’s search results, the domain name lets people know that the business has the product or service they need.

In the competitive online market, however, businesses with similar products and services tend to use similar names. However they wish to identify themselves, businesses should select a domain name that is unique yet easy to remember. It would also be wise for businesses to register their domain names for a period of at least a few years and renew before the term expires. This is a way for businesses to ensure they are the only ones that can use their domain name, which is tied to their brand and online reputation.

Businesses would be wise to get a reputable domain host that can provide security, as well as complete domain Web hosting solutions that make it easier to build and maintain their organization’s online presence.

Purchasing Domain Names in 3 Easy Steps

There is a common trouble that a lot of people run into while purchasing domain names. They find that the URL they want is taken already. Mostly, this leads to choosing domain names which fits poorly with the business name or a brand. This in tern might hurt the overall success of the online venture.

According to experts, this typically happens since proper procedure was not followed while buying the domain name! Still, even in the middle of so hard competition in the domain purchase arena, some people really are securing the domain name they originally wanted. A survey found that most of them follow the following tips.

First Step: Take time to research
The first and foremost thing you have to do before buying the domain name is – research. Take the time you need for thoroughly researching on the desired URL address. You can do this research simply if you type in many variations of that address. For instance, use.com,.org or.ca (first two letters of your country) on the search bar. Just go to that site where you’re considering buying the domain names from. Then check whether that name is available or not.

Second Step: Decide on the Length of Time
After that, you should try to decide on the duration you wish to own that domain for. This decision matters a lot while you’re considering purchasing domain names. For instance, you can choose to own that domain for a year as a minimum or as long as 10 years. But it is not advisable that you register for time a span even as lengthy as 5 years. Rather, register for one year to begin with. When the domain name is about to expire, renewing it is always an option for you!

Third Step: Purchase
When you’ve found that the name you want is available and that’s the name you want, just go online, and buy with your debit/credit card. The bottom line here is that, if you find your desired domain – just purchase it! You never know when it’s too late. Fortunately, purchasing domain names shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes

Developing Your Online Presence With a Quality Domain Name Registrar and Web Hosting Provider

You’ve decided to take your offline business online or begin an online business from scratch. It has the potential to be a great decision. However, before you can really work on operating the business and making a profit, you have to first have a presence online that shows you have an online business. This means registering a domain name and obtaining Web hosting so you can have your own website online.

A domain name is the URL, or Uniform Resource Locator, that indicates precisely where your website is located on the Internet. This is how people will locate you online – they type the URL into their Web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera, Google Chrome, etc.) and arrive at your website. Therefore, registering your own domain name is essential in order for you to have an online business.

Similarly, obtaining Web hosting is also critical to having an online business because you need your own website to show your own product offers, your own subscriber forms, and information about your business and what you offer.

As you would expect, there are plenty of domain name registrars and hosting companies who can provide these essential services to you. As you would expect as well, some companies are better than others when it comes to providing these services.

When it comes to domain name registrars, two of the most most recognized companies are NameCheap.com and GoDaddy.com. Both have experience in registering domain names, but reports suggest that they are NOT equal when it comes to providing the quality of service you need to have an online presence.

NameCheap.com provides simple and easy registration and live customer support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for any problems that may arise (which don’t occur very often). They are the preferred choice when compared to GoDaddy.com, who doesn’t have the reputation for the same level of customer support, nor the same ease of registering your domain name.

GoDaddy.com relies on email communication only, and it’s not 24 hours a day, 7 days a week like NameCheap’s customer service provides either. Furthermore, if you receive a spam complaint (and you likely will at some time or other, as virtually every online business owner does), GoDaddy will shut down access to your site because of that complaint, even if it’s a fraudulent complaint and you’ve never had a spam complaint before.

Reestablishing access to your site can take days and even weeks. During this period, your site does not appear to visitors, they cannot order from your site, and those who ordered, but didn’t have their orders processed before the site was shut down, will presume that you were just a scammer who stole their money and ran, thereby ruining your reputation, which will make future business more difficult for you, especially if the incident is spread across the Internet, which is likely.

Additionally, GoDaddy.com makes it extremely difficult to move existing domain names that are registered with them to other domain name registrars, including NameCheap.com. They have a policy that a website must be unchanged for 60 days before they will allow a transfer. Therefore, if you update the site manually or an RSS feed updates the site, you’ll have to wait an extra 60 days for a possible transfer. This means you’ll have to cut off the RSS feed for 60 days or you’ll likely never be able to transfer your domain name to another registrar.

Therefore, you are much better off by avoiding GoDaddy.com from the beginning and going with NameCheap.com if you want to avoid potential headaches with your domain name.

Regarding Web hosting, there are many quality Web host providers out there, but one of the best for Internet marketers is Kiosk. They understand Internet marketing and will work with you to try to make your business a success.

For example, if you get a random spam complaint, they will not automatically shut down your site like other Web host providers will often do, but will contact you to inform you about the spam complaint and advise you to remove that person’s contact information from your subscriber list.

Don’t feel that they won’t get tough with you if you have a history of spamming people, however; if you have a history of spamming people, they’ll shut you down quickly like any other Web host provider would, but if you have a clean history and get a random spam complaint out of the blue, they will most likely work with you so that you can avoid any downtime to your business.

Plus, if you are planning a major product launch and expect tons of website visitors and sales from it, you can inform Kiosk ahead of time of the product launch date and time and they will do their very best to watch over your site to make sure that the site and traffic servers stay online throughout your product launch so that you don’t lose any sales, profits, and reputation from a downed site or crashed traffic servers.

It is certainly critical to choose a good domain name registrar and hosting company that provide excellent customer service to assist you in operating a successful online business. Without a good domain name registrar and Web hosting provider, you have virtually no chance of building and sustaining a successful online business. Therefore, it would be wise to evaluate as many options as possible for both domain name registering and Web hosting and to choose the two that you think will work best with your business both now and in the future.

Make My Own Website – Choosing an SEO-Friendly Domain Name

As you make your own website, in your search to rank as high as possible for your chosen keywords, you must consider your domain name as a potential spot to highlight one of your main keywords. When Google spiders your website, the first full block of text that the spiders see is your URL of each page on your website.

There is a school of thought that keyword-rich domain names are ineffective in courting higher PageRank and that users often view them as looking like SPAM sites. There may be some truth to this, but by following this advice you could be choosing to ignore one of the most powerful on-page search engine optimization tools available to you.

As an experiment try doing a Google search for any term you can think of. Do you notice how many of the sites on the first few pages of search results have the term you looked up included in their domain name or their full URL?

What about your concern that a keyword-rich domain name looks cheap or spam-like? Think for a minute about how you conduct your own searches. Have you ever been put off by a domain name or, like most users, do you pay more attention to the page title and description as you decide on which of your search results to click?

So, what if your keyword is a keyphrase? How should you format your domain name? Many people have made the mistake (myself included) of stringing the words in the phrase together without hyphens. Whereas Google spiders can distinguish the individual words in a keyphrase, other search engines may not be able to do this. Therefore, if you are using a keyphrase in your domain name, you should use hyphens between the words.

For example: build-my-chicken-coop.com/

In addition to the benefits of making your domain name readable to the search engines, using hyphens is also easier on the human eye. In conclusion, when you create your own website. do give some thought to using your keywords in your domain name to help improve your eventual ranking for your chosen keyword.
