Godaddy, perhaps the world’s most favorite domain registrar though not necessarily the most-user friendly one since you have to go through a labyrinth of web pages before you could wrap up buying a domain, is relatively cheaper than the rest of domain name registrars I’ve been with.
I’ve been with another domain registrar and I found that Godaddy is still cheaper than them especially when you renew a.com domain. The difference could be more or less $3 per domain name.
If you would renew 10.com domains you can save $30 with Godaddy. This is precisely the reason I transferred many of my domains to Godaddy. It’s part of cost-cutting. To transfer a domain is cheaper than to buy or renew it. I could have stayed with my other domain name registrar if they still offer a free whois privacy on renewal. Unfortunately, they don’t. Only on first year of registration do they offer a free privacy protection.
That’s my first method on saving money on buying domain at Godaddy. Renew the domains in bulk or transfer them in bulk to another registrar and on the next year, put them back to Godaddy. You just have to undergo the pains of authentication and confirmation emails and security codes and all that.
Another way to save money on domain name registration is to separate the registration of a.com and a.org domain. As of this writing, Godaddy charges $14 plus for a.org and $10 plus for a.com. Using a coupon code you could get the.com at $7.07 only. Usually, a.com coupon code does not work with a.org domain.
It is a wise idea that you finish first the domain registration or renewal of the.com, to avail of the discount. After that, you proceed with the purchase or renewal of a.org, using a separate coupon code.
Remember you cannot use two coupon codes in Godaddy simultaneously – only one code at a time. If you have 3.coms that you want to renew, just use one coupon code, but not on 3.coms and another 3.orgs or another 3.nets.
Saving money on Godaddy domain purchase or renewal is just a matter of hitting the right timing of promotions and knowing how to apply the coupon codes.
Buying a domain name is just the first phase of putting an online presence for your business or products. In the internet, you will find an unlimited options and concepts on the types of domain names you want to acquire and maintain in the coming years, the type of website you want to develop, and type of online audience you want to target. The sky is the limit. Before you buy a domain name, you must have envisioned already what you would want to do with that domain.
