When you have a cheap domain name, the next thing you think about is how to get a cheap domain name registration. But, if you have trouble getting that cheap domain name, you need to make sure you get the right information that will guide you to landing on a very good and cheap domain name. Firstly, it is good to establish what exactly is a domain name and why exactly it is important. When you want to have a website, you must come up with an address or a name that you can use to refer to your site. The name is called a domain name. You can get the name from companies which are licensed to offer the service. What you get from these companies is the registration service and you get to invent your own name.

When you come up with a name and find that it is already taken, you can buy already existing domain names from domain name resellers. They are people or companies who own the names in bulk and are willing to offer them to the public at a price. Therefore, you can search your ideal domain name and get a good offer for it. This good offer is the cheap domain name. This market is a bit unregulated and demand for a particular domain name determines the price. But, before you even think of a cheap domain name registration, make sure that the name is appropriate or suitable for its function. There are several things that you need to consider while choosing a cheap domain name and they include the following.

Firstly, let the name be short and clear. Nothing beats simplicity and if possible, cut all the technical details and let people identify with a name they can pronounce and remember. Let your business aspect come out from the cheap domain name. There are names that you hear about and they totally have no connection with the kind of business they represent. It is not easy to choose a name that meets these qualifications in an almost perfect way but, the secret is real simple. It is taking time and not rushing the process of cheap domain name registration. Many people get some of the best ideas after taking time to think about it. Let your business and personality inspire you to choosing the right domain name.

Domain name registration is done by registrars who are authorized by the internet governing body. You should therefore make sure that the company meets this qualification. The process is simple and your domain name has to meet the right requirements like the non use of symbols. You will then decide on which company has the best offers in terms of price and service. The internet will enable you search and know all you stand to gain when you have a domain name registration with the particular company. You will be happy to make the right decision and there are no two ways about it, you have to have the right information about the process.

If you wish to sell your existing domain name and sell it quickly, you might achieve more success if you place it in auction. Auction selling domain names offer certain advantages especially if you look to sell domain names quicker than other methods. Aside from being the quickest option known, it can also be benefiting in the following ways:

A domain name auction can be an attractive option because it can readily bring together a group of interested buyers. From a broker’s perspective, it can be very difficult in trying to target those buyers who might be interested on buying particular domain name.

An auction would require a seller to be listed with a domain name broker. On the part of the domain name buyer, this would be a benefit since that it would give some sense of legitimacy to such kind of market. With the presence of brokers, buyers might feel more secure that they will not be shortchanged in the deals that they may be making in the process.

An auction would be the ideal venue for valued information about certain domain names in order to determine their worth. Sellers would enjoy the help of the brokers in order to set a fair market value for their domain name property. Buyers may also be able to obtain information on domain names that will be able to help them determine their bidding price for each domain name. In some ways, an auction will provide a fair market for both the sellers and the buyers.

An auction can also put some order to a gathering of domain name buyers and sellers. It can be good venue for both experienced as well as inexperienced buyers who might not know how to offer the fair value for a certain domain name. Auctions usually starts low with buyers bidding to what they think would be the value fitting for each domain name for sale. This will help buyers avoid the embarrassment of offering too high or too low for a good domain name.

Auctions can help eliminate too much haggling, or at least keep them in check. This puts more efficiency into the whole process and provides buyers with an abundance of domain names to bargain with, at times even more than they can handle.

So should you plan to have your domain name put up for sale, maybe you should give auctions a second look. Not only would it provide sellers with the convenience in looking for interested buyers, it can also provide the buyers with a safe venue to look for interesting bargains and deals. Auctions offer you the quickest way to find the best value for your domain names in so short a time.

A domain name is a combination of letters and characters, together with a domain extension, that can be used as the basis of your web address and email address. It is a required part of most Web hosting accounts so choosing the right one is an important decision. A domain name is your website name, your website's virtual address, the address where people from around the world can access your website.

One of the most popular reasons to have a domain name is to have a personalized email, either for your business or for personal reasons. Choosing a domain name is an important part of the overall marketing process. As soon as a domain name is registered to a person or company, it’s theirs to use exclusively as long as their fees are paid, whether it be monthly, quarterly or annually. When choosing the right domain name, remember it is your identity on the internet, making the right choice is an essential part of the process. It is important to choose wisely and if possible choose a name that is relevant to your business, you want a name that is easy to remember, short and if possible the name of your site. Once you begin this process you may find that your first choice of a domain name is not available. However you will be given several other name suggestions by the registration company, alternately find an expired or for sale domain name.
A domain name is considerably easier to remember than a sequence of random numbers or letters, it is the text name corresponding to the IP address of a computer on the Internet. A domain name is a name that allows others on the Internet to find your web site easily. For example when a domain name is typed into a web browser, the name server associates that with the IP address and the correct web site opens in the web browser.

A domain name is a valuable corporate asset, it is important to protect domain registration. The worth of a domain name is high, and there is no limit to just how high its value could be and in today’s climate a domain name is as important as your business license. One of the reasons for the high value of domain names relevant to a specific business, is that even without advertising or marketing, they attract clients seeking services and products who simply type in the generic name.
Once your domain name is registered it then it needs to be hosted by a reputable hosting company. Domain name hosting means your domain is hosted on a secure server which allows you to use your chosen domain online, this then allows your website to appear on the Internet. A name server is a computer that tells where a domain name is located.

The web host is the most important part of any website because this is where you create and publish your pages, build order forms, add functionality and maintain your site. A fully developed website includes fresh, new content which gets your domain indexed in popular search engines.

There are a number of low-cost web services that will not only register your domain name, but also set up email and websites for you, complete with e-commerce capabilities.

How can finding expiring domain names lead to a profitable business? As thousands of users are setting up shop on the internet every day, good keyword domain names are getting scarce. The importance of a catchy domain name should not be underestimated in today’s online world of advertising. Businesses end up forking over thousands of dollars to buy already owned domain names that meet their market needs. In order to go about finding soon to expire domain names, you should know more about the overall process of how a domain name actually expires.

A domain name doesn’t really expire on the expiration date. There are stages it goes through before becoming available to the public again.

First stage: This is a 40 day grace period, and during these 40 days the owner can still renew the domain at the normal renewal cost.

Second stage: Next is the redemption period, and again the owner can still renew the domain (while paying an additional fee).

Third stage: Now enters the 5 day deletion period, where on the last day the domain name will become available for all.

The overall process is about 2.5 months. Finding and capitalizing on expired domain names isn’t exactly rocket science, but there is a learning curve to it and the right knowledge can help you be successful.

Let’s say you’ve come up with a brilliant product, and want to set up a website to sell it. Unfortunately the best keyword domain names for your product are already taken. This happens more often than not, which is why it’s important to understand how domain names expire. Once you understand what you’re dealing with, you’ll be better prepared to capture that all important domain name for your product or business.

While monitoring the three stages of domain name expiration, you should be considering how much you’d be willing to spend to claim it. Sometimes the competition outweighs your ability to pay top dollar, but other times you can find some great gems. Remember, you have to measure the cost of the domain name against the forecasted loss of sales you can endure when people aren’t finding your website properly. It’s difficult to put a price on branding, but that’s exactly what you’re trying to do by capturing a strong domain name.

People every day log onto their Web sites to discover that their domain names have been sold without their knowledge. Since the domain name no longer points to their site, they are out of business. A thorough understanding how the domain registration system works can help you to avoid this costly mistake.

Imagine you’re the owner of a successful Web site, but when you logon one day all you get is an error message. Or worse yet, the domain name now points to a site full of advertisements. That’s right. You’re out of business.

This happens every day because of a perfectly legitimate process known as “drop catching,” where people quickly snag the domain names owners have let expire and try to resell them or use the links associated with the names, which could be extensive, to create Web sites loaded with advertisements. You can easily avoid becoming a victim of a drop catcher by better understanding how the domain registration system works to protect your domain name.

Your Web site, with all the content you have so painstakingly added, sits on a computer with a unique address called an IP address, which is simply a series of numbers. A domain name is an address forwarding service that directs visitors to the site using this IP address. Domain names are used instead of numbers because most people find it easier to remember a name rather than a bunch of numbers. It’s as if you could dial your friend’s name into the telephone instead of his phone number.

You can purchase a domain name by registering it with a provider of domain services such as GoDaddy.com , the largest on the Web, or any number of other registrars. The name can be registered for just one year, for about $10, or for as long as ten years, for around $80. Many register for only one year because it’s cheaper, or they only want the site for a limited time.

At the end of the year, the registrar usually sends an email renewal notice to the owner. If the owner doesn’t respond to the renewal notice, the domain name will eventually be made available for purchase by someone else. Roughly 20,000 domain names become available every day because the owners allowed them to expire, or the owners didn’t realize that their domain name was up for renewal

According to the rules established by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers(ICANN), domain registrars have 45 days after the expiration date to notify the owner that their domain name is going to be dropped from the registry. If the name is dropped, the guidelines then call for a 30-day grace period during which the owner can still claim the name. After this grace period and then another five-day holding period, the name is dropped from the registry and anyone can claim it.

Since 2004, however, a number of domain service providers, starting with SnapName.com, have created an auction process for expired names which bypasses the original drop process and makes the names available in as little as thirty days. GoDaddy.com begins the auction process even before the names have officially expired, although it does warn the auction participants that the owner could still claim their name.

These providers of domain services each have tools on their sites to make it easier to grab expired names. They provide constantly updated lists of expired names, various auction services, search engines, and other free tools for anyone to quickly and easily find available domain names. Some sites also offer software for sale that further simplifies the search for expired and soon to be expired names.

With the surge in online advertising, drop catchers will continue to seek out domain names from sites with good traffic, anxious to exploit the established links. Protect your site and your business by checking the expiration date of your domain name. Relying on the registrar to send a renewal notice that could easily be sent to an old email address or get lost in the spam catcher, could cost you years of hard work.

Domain name appraisal is a mechanism set to evaluate the real worth of a domain during domain selling or buying process. Appraisers observe numerous considerations while evaluating the domain and performing expected cost analysis.

Selling and purchasing quality domain names are a round the clock activity, what internet industry is rightly doing. A seller, whatever the valuation of his domain name in the market, quotes the higher price bid for the same and in contrary a buyer desires to pay less for the domain he wants to have. It’s becoming the foremost issue for both buyer and seller is to fix a deal upon the agreed price.

The problem arises due to absence of a standard process to evaluate the cost of a particular domain. To rationalize the process of domain costing and making both seller and buyer agree on a fair or negotiated price, domain name appraisal mechanism has introduced in the internet market. Needless to say that business of appraising domains and evaluating their selling or reselling value is getting bigger day by day.

Key facts about the Domain Name Appraisal:

With a well analyzed domain appraisal, owner simply gets an idea about the real worth of the domain. The process of appraising a domain name is entirely speculative and based on several factors including the brand recognition it enjoys, marketability it has and traffic it pulls. Process of appraisal puts the core focus on actual selling points that a domain carries along the name. Various factors and considerations like domain name, business segment and domain name extension are being addressed during the appraisal process.

How it evaluates the domain name

Like other evaluation systems, it also primarily spotlights on the core characteristics of the object being valued. In this case, a domain is the entity being evaluated. In a nutshell, a number of factors are measured to obtain the final worth of the domain you have registered. These factors analyzes whether the domain name:

	Has marketability among competitors

	Has brand value that sells

Is easily memorable by the users

Is short and easy to spell

If you have a domain name to buy or sell, it’s worthy to get domain name appraisal done for the same. Since the entire process of appraisal is tentative in nature, two consecutive evaluations for the domain name may differ in final costing. Finally it’s very necessary to understand that a domain name appraisal is completely different from the site appraisal therefore the visitor traffic and revenue generation from the site couldn’t be the decisive factors for the domain name appraisal.

Selling a domain can be very profitable if you are lucky to find a short and brandable domain. You only need to make sure that you will not transfer your valuable domain for free because there are a lot of frauds with domains.

If you have a website then you probably have your own domain. You have registered your own domain because you want to be on your own or because you have found a nice domain name. The process of registration is simple and quick. You enter the name you want to register, contact details, pay the registration fee and the domain is yours. It will be yours until it expires or you decide to sell it.

When registering a domain you should never enter fake contact details. If you would like to have some privacy and not disclose your details then you should use domain privacy service offered at most registrars. Make sure the administrative email you have entered is valid and you can access it. You will need this email address when you would like to sell or transfer the domain. The same address will be used to remind you that your domain is about to expire.

Selling a domain can be very profitable if you are lucky to find a short and brandable name. But it can be also a painstaking process. You never know who is the person interested in your valuable asset. Anybody can use a whois service to find domain details including the registration period and your contact details. You should be extremely careful when responding to offers and payment via PayPal. You may receive the funds in advance but this does not guarantee the success of the business. For all intangible goods PayPal will return the funds to the buyer if he has raised a dispute. In such case you will loose you domain because the registrar doesn’t care about what were the circumstances.

A much better way of selling it is to use a specialized transfer service where you have to pay a small fee. Here you can also list your domain and attract potential buyers. To be able to list and sell a domain you can simply enter it at one of many sell and buy services. Once the domain is listed there anybody interested in your domain can contact you and negotiate for price. The transfer of domain is simple and usually done by the company offering the service. Of course, the transfer is not free but you are assured that you will get the money for your valuable domain.

Domain names are a valuable asset. You should always have valid contact data at your registrar. Before your domain will expire you will get a reminder and you will have a lot of time to extend the registration. And when you find a opportunity to sell the domain, just go for it if the price is good. You only need to make sure that you will not transfer your valuable domain for free since there are a lot of frauds with online transactions.

You have your eye on the perfect domain name that is already registered but has been suspended. So what can you do?

You have your eye on the perfect domain name that is already registered but has been suspended. So what can you do?

UK domain names are handled by Nominet. Whilst you may have bought your domain name via 123-REG or other registrars it is Nominet who holds the official domain records on its registry. UK domain names need to be renewed every two years to keep them live, this is a simple and inexpensive process and is normally done via your current domain host or Registrar.

But what happens if you forget to renew a domain name?

Well, the owner will have received several reminders about the need to pay and renew the domain. Some people either do not receive these emails or forget that it needs to be done, others will have no further use for the name and rather than sell it, will simply let the domain name renewal lapse.

Whatever the circumstances, the process for UK domain names that are not renewed is the same. Once the domain reaches its renewal date Nominet changes the status of the domain to suspended. This information can be seen on a WHOIS search or just go to the Nominet website and type the domain name in to see the details. The name is normally suspended for 90 days, during this suspension period the current holder can renew the name and effectively claim it back.

Once the 90 day period has finished the domain name is put back in to the market for anyone to register as their own. It might seem simple then to simply put a note in your diary to go online after this 90 day period and register your chosen name. Unfortunately, in the world of domains things are not so simple.

If the domain name is of good quality and highly sort after there will be many people who would want it as their own. Some will want it so they can set up a new website, others to compliment an existing collection of domains but there are also domain brokers whose business is trading in domains. If a highly valuable name is coming back onto the market the competition will be high. Occasionally, the domain owner will renew the domain right at the last minute so then the opportunity is lost.

So what can be done to secure the name?

Registering popular names that have been suspended is a complex process if you intend on being successful and there will be many people aware that the name is being lapsed. You will need to employ the services of a domain expert who has the necessary systems in place to register the name as soon as it becomes available. Whilst there is no guarantee of success, you generally only pay if the domain is purchased for you. This is a fairly low cost exercise when you consider how much the domain could be worth to you.

You will need to contact the domain broker in good time with details of the name you require. Don’t leave it too late as there is a finite amount of capacity when registering domains this way. If successful, your careful planning and research will be rewarded with the name registered to you in just a few seconds.

Domain registrations in the UK are handled by Nominet and they hold information on domains and domain owners. To enable a domain name to be transferred from one person to another the Nominet system needs to be used to facilitate this transfer.

You can check if a domain name is already registered by going to the Nominet website and entering the domain name. The search results will provide some brief information on the owner, possibly with an address and then the dates the domain was registered and the renewal date. If the domain is not registered then you will be able to buy this name yourself very simply online. You will first need to find a domain Registrar to do this for you, some common Registrars are 123-REG or Heart Internet but there are lots to choose from.

So what if your chosen domain name is already taken?

The majority of registered domain names are in use by companies and individuals. However, there are many domain names that have been registered where the owner will be happy to sell. Your first option will be to visit the website and look for contact details, then contact the website to see if the domain is available for sale.

There are also Domain Brokers who hold domains in stock that are for sale. A simple internet search will bring up some companies to approach and negotiate with. These brokers specialise in buying and selling domain names and often have some of the very best names that are available so it’s worthy looking at a few.

Before parting with any money you should be certain that the company or person you are dealing with is reputable and trustworthy. These companies should provide you with Terms and Conditions of Sale or perhaps a Sale Contract to check. In most cases you will need to send money for the domain transaction before the goods are actually yours. This can be by bank transfer or Paypal depending on what the selling company decides.

Once this process is underway the person selling the domain will instruct Nominet via an online system that they wish to pass ownership of the domain name to you. You will receive an email from Nominet with a link, this link is only valid for five days so don’t delay. If you don’t complete the process in time the link becomes invalid and the process has to start all over again. When you click on the link you will begin the process of transferring the domain name into your ownership. Follow the Nominet system prompts and complete your name, address and contact details. The domain TAG is a specific code belonging to a domain registrar such as 123-REG. You will need an account with a Registrar to transfer the name to. You will need to pay the Nominet fee online, currently £10 plus VAT before the transfer is complete.

After a short while, your domain Registrar control panel will show your newly transferred domain name for you to configure. Nominet will then update the domain WHOIS information and show you as the new owner. Don’t forget to keep up to date with the domain renewal payments, these are due every 2 years.
