Make Money Online by Buying and Selling Domain Names

There are many ways that people can make some money online. Most accepted ways to earn money on Internet is by buying and selling the domain names. Domain names are low-priced and give a very low risk of investment when in comparison to other types of investments on Internet. When you invest in domain names you have got something to show for it.

The most horrible thing that can occur is you buy a domain name, which can’t be sold. But, that is very uncommon to occur because people place the value in efforts made towards mounting it.

Domain names are inexpensive and if efforts to sell the domain name for upright income fail, then one can always draw back on selling domain for an original purchase price.

A key to find achievement in buying and selling the domain names comes from learning proper strategy and plans in the trade. If you have awareness in the business of buying and selling the domain names, you will need to invest time and money in educating yourself.

What makes good domain name?

A suffix is most important thing like .COM, .ORG, and .NET are by far most popular one. Other different domains such as .WS, .FM, .TV, are becoming increasingly popular, since they are wide open. For instance, where you cannot get DW.com but you can still acquire DW.ws. For now, I will go with .COM since they are the easiest to sell.

Would any Webmaster or business would want it?

Ask manually that question, if you cannot right away say “Yes!” don’t buy it. Keep in mind it is unlawful to register the business name or a trademark, which you do not possess. This is said “cyber-squatting” and strong laws are now in position to guard against this.

Shorter the domain name better. These are most brilliant and simplest to market. At time of writing this, there are about thousand three character of domain names left.

Tips When Buying a Domain Name

Stay Anonymous

When buying a domain name, it is necessary to stay anonymous as you can all the way keep the cost as low as possible. The domain names will not have set prices, and so the price of the domain name arrives entirely from debates between the buyer and the seller.

Don’t reveal that you are setting a website.

If the domain name individual knows that you are intending to develop a site, specially a marketable website, price of your domain name will go high, and you will finish up paying extra to the market value for the domain name.

Never reveal your name and personal information.

It is very easy for somebody to learn plenty of information about you and your financial situation on Internet. So, it will be a very good thought to make another web based email address to carry out your discussions.

Conclusion

As you can observe, buying and selling domain name is a very good way to make money. It is very simple and you can routinely accomplish it in your extra time. Sign up with Ebay.com or Afternic.com and start selling! All The Best!

With a Domain Name Like Yahoo You Can Make Lots of Money

It has been said that your domain name will determine your success and it is therefore wise to take time to come up with a domain name that will guarantee success. Domain name yahoo offers all the information that you need to guide you into having a good name and establishing your web site. The first place to begin is to define what exactly a domain name from yahoo is. A domain name is the name you give to a person in order for them to access your web site. In other words, it is the address to your site and it should come with various aspects. Some of the aspects are that it should be simple and easy to remember at the same time reflecting the heart of your business. When thinking of a domain name know that only letters, hyphens and numbers are allowed.

You can use different extensions if you find that the name you choose is already in use. A question that constantly comes up is whether once you have a domain name it can be changed. The Domain name yahoo yahoo offers cannot be changed and the only way is to register a new name and have the other one canceled or you can keep it. Some people have suggested that when you register a name with yahoo, that you do not own it. The fact is that yahoo plays only as an administrator to it but, you are the one who is going to determine whether to transfer it or cancel it. You usually pay an annual fee for a domain name and you can have many domain names. To cancel a domain name, you need to contact the registrar like Melbourne IT and have them cancel the name by deleting it. If you stop paying the domain name renewal fee, then it will be automatically deleted.

When you have many domain names, you can actually sell them. Even one single domain name can be auctioned online and you can get interested parties. There has been instances where a domain name has helped people make a fortune. One example of such a story is of a 43 year old man from Maryland who sold a domain he had maintained since 1994 at a whooping $2.6 million. Buying A Domain Name

A Domain Name

Reserving a domain name means that it is possible to reserve its trademark or its trade name on the Internet, to put an Internet site on line to increase its visibility and exchange emails with a personalized and professional Internet identity. To hold your own domain name, means you will also be free to use it as a means of communication and you will be able to preserve the domain name for a long time to come so long as you renew it by paying the associated fees. It is independent of your hosting account, and you are free to switch and change hosts without any risk of ever losing your valuable domain name.

Some Thoughts Before Buying A Domain Name

We strongly advise you to check that your chosen domain name is already free or expired before you attempt to purchase it. Failure to do so can lead you into a “merry dance” of paying inflated fees and investing time in setting up watch campaigns on domain names until they (possibly) expire. This simple checking will also prevent possible legal conflicts in which the owner of a trademark would always have the sympathy and judgement of a court of law.

Finding Good Names

Go to any good search engine and type the phrase “expired domain names”. You will see a number of sites that specialise in helping to find domain names that have expired. A word of warning, don’t pay for this service there are plenty of free ones. Most run a script on the site that allows you to type in a word or phrase and find expired domains that incorporate your chosen word. It may take a little work if the script returns a number of results but believe me, this is a lot less work than trying to think up good phrases.

Precautions To Be Taken After The Purchase

In order to keep a domain name for longer than the purchased period, it is possible to set up email alerts when the name is due for renewal. Most reputable companies offer such a facility and it is always worth a small extra fee (not all companies charge for this service) to save the headache of trying to win back an expired domain name, especially a carefully thought out and cherished one.

Let me end this article with a word of warning. I have heard this story twice and both times it involved personal names used as domain names, i.e. johnsmith.com. One story I heard was from a guy who had 4 months left of his purchase but received an email that it was time to renew the domain. He chose to ignore it figuring, that he had a couple of months left to sort it out. The next month he found that the domain company he had purchased from, had sold the name to someone who offered to pay more for it. No amount of arguing got him his cherished domain name back.

The second story was more cynical. A friend told me he had bought a domain name based around his own name and had built up a steady stream of traffic focusing on snow boarding, his passion. He was making a useful amount of money from his blog when all of a sudden he noticed one day that his site redirected to a parked page with the company he had bought the name from. He contacted them and they said it was probably a glitch and they would look into it. The very next day the site showed someone else’s blog focusing on the exact same subject and with more and bigger ads to tempt people to buy from the site.

He contacted the domain company a number of times but never did get his domain name back. It was one of the saddest and most cynical stories I have heard regarding domain name theft.

In both these stories the companies used were small outfits who very quickly disappeared into the sunset. My only advice would be, always buy from a known and reputable source.

Sell Your Domain Name For Profit Or Should You?

These days as a professional domainer I do very little selling. I don’t like to, nor do I need to.

I have come to the conclusion that the longer I hold something the more it is going to be worth. Just look at three-letter .com’s, .net’s, .org’s, .us’s, and .biz’s. There are zero left “out in the wild” to be registered. (Three letter domains I am talking about here, not three-character domains, though all three-character .com’s have been registered as well).

These three-letter domains always go for, well, let’s just say much more than the registration fee. regardless of the extension.

As the value of good generic names keeps increasing, there is very little reason to sell your domains names at this stage at the game. Yet, people do. You would do well to learn one thing concerning the domain name market very early:

PATIENCE. If you are eager to spend money then there will be sharks salivating and lining up, happy to take it from you. The point is, that you don’t want to spend money just to spend it, you need to make sure the buys you are making are quality buys.

However, if you do come to a time and place that you want to sell your domain name, you need to keep a few things in mind.

If you are going to make a business out of domains and you are going to open your own company, you need to make enough to pay any taxes that may be incurred. This is a big area of debate and I’m not a tax expert, so consult your tax adviser.

You obviously need to make enough to cover the original purchase price, but you may also need to factor in other expenses such as renewal fees, how much PayPal, escrow fees (sedo or other escrow company) are going to take from you when you make the domain sale.

Can your domain names make more money if you wait a bit longer for a different person who may want this more?

Is there a big enough market to where other people would be willing to buy this name so they had an “edge” on the competition?

Or are you selling to a “reseller”? (a person just as yourself who is buying the name to hold and resell later).

Is it really the “right” time to sell your domain, if you wait will the product/service/etc become more widely known or will the domain bring in more traffic?

Do you really even “need” to sell or do you just want to? You may need money for other ventures, but if you don’t, then what is the point?

Is it an offer that you just cannot refuse?

I have had offers on domain names that I could not refuse before, it’s not common but it happens. I had just registered about 20 .us domain names and shortly thereafter someone got a hold of me and offered $500 off the bat for one of them. Considering that I just registered the domain name, and the mere fact that the .us market has really not picked up, it was probably a good decision to sell. I sold him the domain for $500 total. That sale paid for the purchase of the other 19 .us’s and also the renewal fee for them along with some money to spare.

In a case like the above, unless what you just registered is a true gem, there is probably no reason to decline the offer. But before you sell make sure a transaction will even be worth your time. If the same guy came to me and said he would have given me $40 for the domain name (and that would be as high as he would go), then there would have been very little reason for me to sell.

Remember, your time is worth money too. However, if you are a “time” person, then these are the types of sales you need to target and you need to target them over and over again until you reach a healthy base with domain name parking revenue. Once you become a “money” person, these types of things are not worth your time at all in the slightest. Remember, you want to become a money person as soon as possible.

So if you decide to keep your domain names or not which is completely up to you. Just be sure to make a well thought out decision.

How to Buy and Sell Domain Names Profitably

I have been asked time and time again by my readers of how best to buy and sell domain names profitably and without stress. In my no-holds-barred research approach and attitude, I earnestly went to work on that assignment. My findings have been serialized in this article for the benefit of all.

What is a Domain Name?

Domain name is an online unique identity that distinguishes one web site from another. It could be your personal name, your offline business name or any other name that has not been registered by somebody else online with domain registrars.

Buying and selling domain name is a serious and big business. The good tiding is that you can start with as little as $8.00 and rake in profit of say, $1,992.00 within a month. That is the naked truth! All you need to excel in this domain name business is a bit of your creativity and ingenuity. Your creativity can out perform any known robot or software so far developed. This is because as you check for domain name availability on the Internet, other names naturally come up as you are told the one you want to register has been taken up. In my experience, I have found out that premium and generic names sell fastest and highest on the internet. This is so because business people are desirous of either protecting their brand names or want a name that will easily ring a bell to any internet user. Therefore, they can go to any length to ensure that they repurchase their names if it has been registered before they do. This is where the money juice lies! It becomes a matter of bidding. As the saying goes: “The highest bidder wins the deal.”

If you are low in capital to jump-start your dream business, the cheapest and easiest place to start and earn a reasonable seed capital is in Domain Name Business. Also if you ask me for an excellent resource/e-book that succinctly outlined the basics of domain name selling in easy steps please email me for recommendation for your financial freedom.

Heard of Domain Parking?

Do you know you can register a domain name and be earning money without hosting it? To this end, you won’t be tied to any monthly fee whatsoever. You earn revenue from one-time investment of buying a domain name throughout the year. It is as sweet as that! The simple thing to do is just to park that registered domain name with a parking company and voila, you start earning cool bucks.

Domain parking means registering a domain name and pointing it to a “parking company” (at no cost of course) so that your site will show a page with adverts when any internet user searches key words or key phrases that relate to your site adverts. When someone clicks on those adverts you earn money. That is domain parking, pure and simple! It is akin to putting google adsense adverts on your site. However, parking is simpler since you do not need to worry about designing a website nor pay monthly web site hosting fees. Truly, online business ideas are limitless. Domain parking is really domain “monetization” business.

Marketing and Profiting from Domain Name

If you are in the camp of “buying and selling domain names”, what you should do is buy popular, premium, generic or key words or key phrases that will be easy to remember and market. People are always enthralled with unique names. There are whole gamuts of a combination of key words that have not been registered. Market them and profit from it. It is your business! But beware: You cannot run this business and excel with naivety. That is why I am recommending a great resource that I can cross my heart for to you when you reach me on email as a quick start.

Take action, become a domainer and add it to one of your income streams. It is a win-win deal!

You will excel!

Benefit of Expired Domains

When you are creating a business or new website on the internet, as you probably know you will need a domain name. This of course is the obvious for any internet business, without a domain name you will not have a website, end of story. Now if you are new to the internet business world (where have you been?) you may not realize the importance of SEO tactics. SEO tactics, if done correctly, are designed to give you an advantage within the search engine ranks. Of course, you may be sitting there wondering, “What in the world are you talking about”.

Well, this all leads to the title of the article and will answer the question what is the “Benefit of Expired Domains”. You see when an domain has been in use by another person and this person allows the domain to expire without renewing, the domain name is placed back into the pool of “domains for sale”. This is where the benefits begin to show, just like a new domain name, the expired domain name is available to anyone who wishes to purchase it. What is the difference between a new and expired domain name? Simple, the expired domain name has already been in use. This means that the previous own has likely invested a great deal of effort and time, not to mention money into the promotion of that domain name.

Furthermore, this means that the expired domain is likely all over the internet, with a multitude of back links. Think about it, taking possession of an expired domain name means less work for you and more time for other, more important issues. You will have the opportunity to take advantage of the work that someone else has already performed. The expired domain could already be listed with many search engines, forums, directories, and a wide variety of other websites that have this link already on them.

What does this mean? Because the previous owner already did most of the legwork, it leaves less for you to do. The traffic specific to that expired domain now becomes your traffic, which leads to your sales, and ultimately your revenue. All of this because someone else was kind enough to do the work for you already and let the domain name expire.

Now surely you would know by now, that if you were to purchase a brand new domain name, you would have to do all the advertising, promotion, SEO work, submission to search engines, forums, and directories yourself. That is a lot of time, effort, and money spent on your part and trust when we say it takes a lot of all of the above to make a new domain work. It makes sense to take advantage of an expired domain does it not? We think so, you should find the expired domain of your choice today and begin taking full advantage of the legwork that has already been done for you and use it for your website.

Creating a Domain With a Twist

I simply want to discuss domains at this time. It is important to choose the correct domain for your product, AdSense, ebook, or membership sites. If not, you realize you could be in dire straits! When people are creating a site or product, they usually choose a domain first. That is a MISTAKE! Quit doing that already! Even if you came up with a great domain name and no one has claimed it yet, it does not mean that someone else currently has the identical idea and is about to snatch the name away from you. The very first thing users notice about your site is the domain. It is the link people click on, enter, Digg, or StumbleUpon. So it is wise to put some thought into it.

There are many things that you should consider when you are choosing the domain:

* Keyword filled domains
* Easy to read
* Large Traffic Flow

The main keyword for your site should always be included in your domain. It should be employed by Adsense sites as well as content driven sites. If your site deals with running barefoot, your domain should be runningbarefoot.com. If you want to use branding, include that brand in your domain name also. If your brand is how people find you, be sure they can access everything they need!

With a brand like Pepsi, the obvious domain name is pepsi.com. You can endorse your company also with pepsicommercials.com because it includes your brand name plus the site’s main concept in the url. It’s quite easy to remember, too! Readability is another thing that is very important. If mygreatdomainthatiswaytoohardtoread.com is your domain, nobody will be able to unravel that. On the other hand, you can employ hyphens, but it will give your clients too much trouble trying to type out your domain. Imagine attempting to instruct somebody over the phone to “type m y ‘hyphen’ g r e a t ‘hyphen’…”. A bit awkward there.

Make your domain brief and powerful. For instance “BAM!” is my domain. Obtain a domain that is as short as you can make it. If the product or service contained on your site is long, it does not mean that your domain name has to be. The name of your domain should be something such as tweetsnip.com or twitsnip.com. The best choice is something with one to three syllables.

Do you want to know the Twist? Here we go…

Finally, you can discover how much traffic would potentially visit your domain. This isn’t something that everyone is aware of. With ICANN (no need to concern yourself with the meaning of that), you have a 5 day grace period before you are committed to having the domain for a certain time period, usually 1 to 5 years. Regard it as a 72 hours car purchaser’s remorse rule.

If your domain is going to be used for sale, you can perform a traffic analysis prior to proceeding with the chosen domain. If you notice that it receives good traffic by itself for any reason, and this is one of your traffic methods, then you are doing alright. If you decide to change your mind, you can as long as you stay within the grace period. All things considered, don’t hurry with the domain choosing process. Similar to a super headline, it requires time to come up with the ideal one.

Talk to you again soon…

Unused Domains Collecting Dust in Your Domain Portfolio Attic? Develop Them and Reap the Reward!

The last time you looked at your domain portfolio, did you see any domains that you are doing nothing with? They are just sitting there collecting dust. We all have them. It’s always those domains that we purchased or registered thinking they were going to be the next big thing. Perhaps you thought they were going to be an easy quick flip on the domain market place yet you have yet to even get a nibble nor less a bite. Don’t worry, you aren’t the only one with this problem.

So you may be asking, what do I do with these domains? Do I sell them for my cost or perhaps less then my cost and take a hit just to get rid of them? Do I just let them expire and forget about them? Well you could get rid of them but it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be beneficial for you to do so. The best way to fix this issue is to take some time and develop these domains. No one will visit the site if there is no website nor if the search engines know it even exists. Building up a website on an unused domain can be very rewarding but the only negative aspect to this is it takes up time. If you have 5 or more domains sitting around building up a website on each can not only take some time but also will suck away your time to keep them updated. In order to keep good search engine ranking they must be constantly updated with fresh content or else they will slowly slip down the ranks and disappear in the 10th or 20th page of a keyword search.

If you have several domains that are being unused at the moment and you don’t have plans on using them why not let a professional build them up for you? The advantages to this is it’s stress free, takes up no time, and unless you stay on top of all of the optimization tricks will probably have much better results then if you developed them. The only disadvantage is of course it costs money. How much money you ask? Well the prices can be very high per domain to actually fairly cheap. Although there are some new companies out there that is providing this service for less then you would spend on a combo fast food meal for each domain each month. These companies monetize your unused domain name and all you do is sit back and watch the money flow in. The only 2 things they as of you is the small fee each month to provide this service and also to point your domain name servers over to theirs so it will point to their server. They host the domain and keep it updated as part of the paid service.

So what are you waiting for? Whether you do it yourself or you pay a professional to develop your domains get out there and get started today. Unlock those domains you have boxed up in your domain attic and blow off the dust and let them start earning you money. You might be surprised how valuable those “worthless” domains actually are.

5 Reasons Why Keywords Should Be in Domain Names

Should I have my Keywords in my domain name? Yes!

Whenever possible, your primary key words should be in your domain name. It’s not always possible but if you take your time you might be able to get close to achieving that goal. You say why? Search engines should always be on the brain in spite of what you here others say. Always do as much as you possible can to increase you chances of getting being found in search engines. Keywords in domain names give search engines clear intentions of your web site’s plan and purpose. Why not help search engines help you by having keywords in your domain names when possible? Does this scenario fit you? You come up with an idea that you think is great and will make a great website. You immediately do a search to see if the domain name is available. It’s available so you quickly purchase it because you think someone else is going to get it.

You can’t believe the domain name hasn’t already been purchased and you own it now. You wonder why it hasn’t been purchased by now. There was a big Internet craze in the 90′s and most of the cool dot-com names were purchased. You research the domain name using the Google search tool and find out very few people search for the domain name you chose. The research indicates a broad search of a hundred and sixty people per month typing in your new domain name.

160 searches per month won’t bring any kind of significant traffic to your website. We all know that a web site without traffic is lonely website and pretty much a dead website. You start to doubt the domain name you chose. It sounded good when you thought of it and it fit the website plan you had in mind to create. You check the exact search phrase amount using the Google search tool and the number of exact searches are whittled down to about sixty searches per month.

Now you really doubt if you chose the right domain name for your website. Only sixty searches per month for the domain name you chose. That’s worse than the broad search count and more accurate because it’s the exact phrase. You rationalize the fact that the domain name only cost you about ten dollars and that’s not too much money. It’s not a bad investment but now you have ten domain names you’re never going to use and that comes to about a hundred dollars in cost. The hundred dollars you spent on domain names could have gotten you hosting for a website for at least a year.

You dig further and discover you only need to add an “s” to make your domain name plural and you’ll get about two thousand more searches per month to your website. So you rush back to your domain search tool to see if the domain name is available with an “s” and find out it’s been taken by someone else. You discover it was registered by a company five years ago but they never built a website using the domain name and it’s for sale. They want three thousand dollars for the domain name and you think that’s just crazy! No way will you pay that amount to get that domain name. The excitement you originally had slowly dies and you rationalize that your idea really wasn’t that great after all.

Now you’re back to square one, looking for a new domain name. It’s time to go back to the think tank and create a website plan. You realize you need to find the clear intentions and clear goal of your website before you build it.

Five Benefits to having keywords in domain names.

1. It gives search engines the clear intentions of your website.
2. It gives your visitors the clear intentions of your website.
3. It gives you clear intentions of your website.
4. It saves money by purchasing one domain name.
5. It gives you a chance to brand the name of your website.

How to Find a Great Domain, With a Twist!

Hey all,

Just wanted to touch on domains here. Are you picking the right domain for your AdSense site/ebook/membership site/product, etc? If not, you know you could be in severe trouble!

A domain is usually one of the first things people pick when they are making a site or product. This is WRONG! Stop doing it already! Just because you thought of a great domain and it is available, doesn’t mean that someone else has the exact same idea and they are just waiting to take it out from under you.

The domain is the very first thing people see about your site. It is the link they click on, type in, digg, or stumbleupon. So make sure to give it a little love.

Some things you should always consider when it comes to picking the right domain are:

* Keyword rich domains
* Readability
* Potential Traffic

Your domain should always contain your main keyword for your site. AdSense sites and content driven sites should use this. If your site is about hiking backpacks, your domain should be hikingbackpacks.com.

If you’re going for branding, make sure to include branding in your domain as well. If people are looking for you via your brand, you need to make sure they can find everything about you.

If your brand is Pepsi, you would have pepsi.com. You could also enforce your brand with pepsicommercials.com which has your brand as well as the focal part of your site in the URL. And it is easy to remember.

Another thing you need is readability. If your domain is: mycooldomainthatisreallyhardtoread.com, no one is going to be able to decipher that. On the flip side, you can use hyphens, but that will make your customers have a really hard time typing your domain. Imagine trying to tell someone over the phone “type m y ‘hyphen’ c o o l hyphen…”. Not so effective.

Make your domain short an punchy. Like my domain is “BAM!”. Get a domain that is as short as possible. I don’t care if your product is “Shortening Really Long URL’s For Better Use On Twitter”, it shouldn’t be your domain name. Your domain needs to be something more like tweetsnip.com or twitsnip.com. 1 to 3 syllables is best.

Ready for the Twist? Let’s Go…

The last thing you can do is see the potential traffic your domain gets. Not everyone knows about this. ICANN (don’t worry about what that means) has a “Create Grace Period” holding domains for 5 days before you are locked into having the domain for 1-5 years. Think of it as a car’s 72 buyer’s remorse rule.

If you are purchasing a domain for sale, you can do some traffic analysis before you go forward with your domain. If you see it gets a decent amount of traffic on it’s own for whatever reason, and that is one of your traffic strategies, then you are good. If not, it is ok, but keep it in mind in case you change your mind about the domain before the grace period is over.

All in all, don’t jump into the domain selecting process. Just like a great headline, it takes time to find the perfect one.

Until next time.

Domain Names – How to Choose a Good Domain Name

Many website owners regret the domain name they registered for their online business because they didn’t put much thought into it. Every time someone types it into their browser you want them to easily remember it.

Benefits of choosing a good domain name

Branding

If you think of Nike or Google you immediately understand how using your business name in your domain helps brand your business. Your domain name can even be your business name if you’re lucky enough to still find a.com business name.

Professional web address

Sometimes online business owners try to save money by using a free service for their online business such as getting a free blog at WordPress or Blogger. If the company disappears so will your web address and all its content. Registering a real domain name shows visitors you’re serious about running a professional online business and are not doing it for the short term. Even if you change web hosting companies you can still keep your own domain name.

Professional email addresses

Using a gmail, AOL, or Yahoo email address for your online business doesn’t project a professional image. Many of these addresses are automatically blocked or not accepted by online professionals because they are often used for sending spam emails that can’t be tracked.

If you register a real domain name you can include it in your email address. This makes it easy for your visitors to identify where it it coming from and which business it belongs to.

How to choose a good domain name

A good domain name is one that clearly reflects your business, is easy to spell and remember.

1. Business name

My web design business is named iSiteBuild dot com so I registered that domain name to brand it. Try to do the same for your own online business. If the name is not available try keywords associated with your business.

2. Keywords related to your business

Search for a domain name that identifies your business keywords. For example if you’re selling red widgets, register redwidgets dot com. If the obvious keywords are already taken research other keywords related to your business and use them instead.

3. Domain extensions

Most.com names may already be taken so you’ll have to get creative e.g. use dashes between the words (red-widgets), numbers (1redwidget), adding extra words (theredwidget) or try different suffixes (.net,.org,.info,.us,.biz)

4. Easy to remember

Has someone ever given you a domain name that was impossible to remember? It may have been too long or had several dashes or numbers in it. Get a domain name that can easily be passed on to others. It will stick in their minds without having to write it down on paper.

5. Keep it short

The shorter the name the easier it is to spell and remember. It will also be easier to fit on business cards and other off line stationary.

6. Hyphenated domain names

If you can’t find a domain name that matches your business, register one that has a hyphen e.g. I registered ihost-websites dot com because ihostwebsites dot com was already taken. It will contribute to your search engine rankings because every time someone links to your website the main keywords will be included in your domain name.

7. Purchase an already registered domain name

There are people whose business is buying and selling domain names. For example the person who first registered business dot com could now sell it now for thousands of dollars. If you are willing to pay for a domain name you’ve set your heart on, check if it’s for sale and how much it costs. Sometimes they are not very expensive.

8. Expired domain names

Sometimes people purchase domain names but never do anything with them because they haven’t had time to develop them or lost interest. First check if it’s available, then check who it’s registered to at whois.com. Contact the owner and ask if they are willing to sell it..you may get lucky.

Domain Name Registration Information and Guideline

There are a set of guidelines that need to be followed for domain name registration. Domain name registration is the process of obtaining domain names and then making use of them for the designated period of time that was decided by the concerned parties at the time when the names were being registered. Domain names are unique and can only be registered when there are no other identical domain names available. The organization managing the central domain server is responsible for holding onto all the domain names apart from the other contact addresses of the organization buying the names. Service providers of Domain registration web hosting India help enterprises in domain name registration and set out guidelines that can be followed to get the job done.

The end user wanting to get the domain name registered cannot do it by himself and has to go and approach a designated registrar. The designated registrar through whom the domain name gets registered has the control over modifications and deletions of information from the name.

Domain registrars have their services priced in such a way that the administration fee and the annual retainer fee are both taken care of. Registrars also tend to offer domain hosting India services through reseller affiliates. Most of them offer longer periods for the domain name and charge an extra retainer for it. A good web hosting company India or service provider of domain hosting Delhi will always charge a nominal retainer to let the customer keep the domain name for an extended period of time.

Post this the domain name goes to the domain name registry where all the names are retained according to the levels in which they get placed. The domain names are further converted into IP addresses when zone files are generated by the Doman Name System. All domains names are managed by an authority that can be approached by the proprietor of the concerned domain name if there are any changes to be made in the information or if the concerned entity wants it annulled.

Once all these steps are in place and the domain name becomes an IP address that is when the website starts functioning and is all ready to be viewed and visited. Domain names have a great role to play in the establishment of websites. The name is unique and has the ability to reflect the goals and ideals of an organization and portray it the way in which one wants it to be. The ability that a domain name has to reveal goals and its capability to create an impact is a virtue that most promoters try to gauge onto and make the most out of. Getting a good domain name is the first step which is then followed by getting it activated in the form of an IP address. These steps lead to bigger things and are very influential in helping the website go on air so that business can be further accentuated.

Who Else Wants Great Domain Names For Your Websites?

It would required as much research as possible and as long as you would accommodate before deciding what are the best domain names for your website before you market your product over the Internet.

Here are some simple, but yet essential rules and ideas to make use of while choosing a suitable domain name:

i. Get yourself multiple domain names:

- Getting yourself a domain name for your business and a domain name for your product will help to maximize your sales and profits in the long run. For example if your Company name is DIY Corporation, and your product name is house tools, then the advise is get yourself two domain names pointing to different pages of your web site.

- The advantages of this is that your website gets more visits by your customers as the domain names are easy to be remembered and searched by on-lookers. Your websites will be able to be found by those customers who knows you by your product names by typing in the name of your products, and who identify you by your company or business name is able to search through your corporation name over the internet.

- The chances are that 9 out of your 10 potential customers will be able to find your website with no hassle and therefore you have 90% potential opportunity to gain new customers this way.

ii. Get the domains which are with close or similar spelling to yours:

- It is not surprising to know that lots of people make spelling mistakes most of the time for spelling checking is not their usual practice. Therefore, it will be beneficial and wise if you can get those domains with very similar or with close spellings to your actual domain names, such as http://www.maximize.com with http://www.maximise.com to “capture” those customers which might have spelt your company name or product name incorrectly, which might have otherwise being forego if you do not get the domains for those which are having similar spelling to yours.

iii. Get dashes (-) into your domain name:

- Many may ask is the dashes really important for your domain name? Well, the answer is yes, there are two important reasons for this. Firstly, domain names with dashes looks more appealing as they appear more aesthetically to the website visitors, and secondly, sometimes domain names with dashes tend to get a higher ranking in the search engines which means your website is likely to get more customers than one without dashes in the domain name.

iv. Getting multiple domain names facilitates:

- The rule of the search engine algorithms are ever changing, therefore it is always beneficial for the web owner to get multiple domain names instead of only one so that no matter how diversify the search engine algorithms are changed, there are always potential sales pointing to your domain. However one rule of thumb is to make sure your multiple domains are pointing to different sub-page on your main site and not to have them all pointing to your main site directly.

v. Keep the domain name short and easy to spell:

- Also make this as user-friendly as possible for your customers and visitors to remember and able to search out for your website. Do not use bombastic spelling or wording that is difficult to remember.

vi. Protect your brand with other extensions if you need to:

- For protection purpose, you may want to utilize the other types of extensions for your domain names such as.net,.info,.biz or even with.co.uk or.co.my if your business is regionally and by specific countries.

In a nut shell, getting a wrong or unsuitable domain name for your business may hurt your business and sales, while getting yourself a great and useful domain name will enhance your business with double-fold in your business sales in a short period of time.

When you are searching for web hosting, reverse researching is important where you should find out the complaints about the host. Which field they are weak in? What mistake they always do? This can give you a clear picture on their performance. For more information, check out webhosting reviews.

Advice on AdSense

Make Money From Expired Domain Names

Are you looking to get lots of traffic to your website so that it makes money for you?

Then do you know that you can do that with an expired domain?

Here is how you can get traffic from an expired domain name.

Everyday hundreds of domain names expire. This could be for any of these reasons: their owners forgot to renew them in time. They lost interest in them. Or they got other domain names for their new sites. And of course, this can happen also when the owner passed away and there was nobody to carry on his or her online business.

But all expired domains are not equal. For a domain name to be useful for getting traffic and ultimately making you money, it must already have been used for a site which was getting a lots of traffic. It could have a good number of backlinks, be listed in popular search engines and directories.

The more popular the website, the more valuable would be its domain name. Because even when there is no site going with such a domain name, it is found in search engines and gets hits. So if you get such a domain name and use it to re-direct it to your site or use it for your new site, you would be getting lots of valuable hits without doing anything. And with so much traffic you can make money by affiliate sales, adsense clicks or sales of your own products. The possibilities of making money with highly optimized domain names are endless.

But there is another side to expired domain names also. For one, such a domain may be worthless if it was getting no traffic to begin with. Then it would require you to develop it as you would do a new domain. But a domain name may be dangerous for your business also. If the domain name was used for a site that was tagged as a spam site by search engines it would do more harm than good to you. If you use it the search engines wouldn’t list it in their search results. Your AdSense account may also be affected by using it with such a spammy domain.

So you have to find a popular as well as clean domain name if you would like to make money from it.

Here it would be in order to know something about how you can register for a domain name that has expired.

When a domain name expires it doesn’t become available for re-registration on its expiry date. There is a wait period of 40 days during which the owner can renew it. And even after this time, there is a period of about 30 days in which the domain can be renewed by the original owner at some enhanced fee. It is only after this time has passed that a domain name would become available for new registration.

Savvy webmasters who are on the lookout for valuable expired domain names backorder them before the expiry time. So it is not certain that you would get a domain name just because it has expired even if you have backordered it but your order is not the first in the queue.

To put this strategy to work you need to find sites which let you make searches for expired or about to expire domain names. You may find some such sites which are free to use but for an in-depth analysis of domain names you may have to join a site which would charge a membership fee. But a single good domain name could pay back what you invest for finding it.

Beginners Guide – What is a Domain Name and How Do I Get One?

What is a Domain Name and how do i get one?

This may be such an easy question for people that have used the Internet before, but still I find people who just don’t know.

Well my starting point to find out what a domain name is would to be use a website called wikipedia. Its basically a free encyclopedia online.

After a search for the term domain name  it says the following:

A domain name is an identification label that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the Internet, based on the Domain Name System (DNS). Quoted from wikepedia.

Well if I had read that when i first started I wouldn’t of had a clue what it was going on about. So in simple terms:

Its an Internet website address. Its what you type in in your browser address bar to visit the website that you require: Example: www. google . com

Domain names were invented to avoid having to remember a string of numbers when we want to go to a web site. . Computers that are connected to the Internet are identified by a set of numbers (an IP address) The string of numbers can be typed into your browsers address bar to visit any website but its easier to remember names rather than numbers.

Choosing the correct domain name is very important. The reason for this is you need something that relates to your website, something that’s easy for your visitors to remember so they are likely to visit again. Something that will be unique to you and something that stands out.

As well as the above reasons you also need to choose carefully because of search engine optimization. I will go into SEO later but if your website domain name contains what your site relates to in its content this helps gain standing in the search engines eyes.

Everything about your domain is important:

 - length – You don’t want it too long that people forget it, or mistype it

- dash or no dashes – Dashes can be good to separate words but can make domains longer or mistyped.

- brand ability – Can you brand your site easily? Does it fit in with the content?

- search engine keywords – Always good to use keywords in your domain name, but its tough these days with so many Domain names already taken,

Only one person or company can own a domain name at any one time. Therefore, if you wanted the domain name www.webdesignwhim.com  , its not available as I own it, you will need to either find another name that is available, or offer to buy the domain (no I’m not for sale its just an example . You could also wait for it to expire and hope they don’t re-register it… but its not likely to happen or you could be waiting a long time.

You dont actually buy your chosen domain name. You register it, so its a bit like renting it Once a domain name is registered, its normally registered for one or two years but can be up to 10 years, and if locked no one else can take that particular domain name. Its your responsibility to re-register the domain name each time before it expires. If a domain name does expire it will go back onto the open market for someone else to register this. Always make sure you keep your domain name safe.

There are so many companies out there to register your chosen domain name. You can just google the following term: register a domain name

At the time of this article there are many companies offering free domain name registration when you sign up for there webhosting (which is another service you will need when getting your domain name online.

Ill go into web hosting in my next article.

Making Money Through Domain Names

Good quality and novelty or fashionable domain names can be turned into a nice passive income stream, when you consider their commercial value and relevance in todays marketplace.

In the early days of the internet,  no one knew the potential value of domain names. As time passed and the internet grew over the years, people started identifying the potential value of good domain names. When the dot com bubble burst though, several millions of domain names suddenly became available. These were unfortunate times when millions of net entrepreneurs lost everything they had, and they did not even have enough money to renew those names.

However, there were a group of on the ball entrepreneurs, who anticipated and visualized the future prospects of holding all these expired domains. Soon there was a mini “goldrush”, with buyers racing against time to grab and buy expired domain names. A new form of business was born, and domain name traders grabbed millions of domains within days and months.

It seems that with the stabilization and maturity of internet and new online business opportunities, new buyers  are always looking for good domains. Secondly, trading in expired domains provides profit making opportunities to sellers within a potentially short time.

People now understand the commercial and search engine  importance of buying good domain names. With a sustained market for useful names, and the demand for good domain name is slowly increasing. A good domain can cost you under $20 to buy and register, but it is possible to sell the same domain for many times more, using the tried and tested domain auction process to sell.

If you have a series of vacant domains at your disposal, you can earn some decent income by using the power of the domain name auction market. One of the best ways to earn a simple income is to sell it quickly to an interested buyer. But, with this option, you may not maximise the value.  You need to devise a strategy that will provide you an opportunity to earn more income, and one of the best ways is to park it with a parking service, while you look for a buyer, or wait for an auction to run.

It is possible to automate this system when using a service such as Sedo. When you set up an account you can repoint your domains and Sedo will automatically park the domain and create ads for your holding page. If those ads are clicked you will recieve income, just like using AdSense.

You can also use a good expired domain name to build a web site, develop it with good content and later sell them at a better price than for an empty domain.

My method for doing this is to use WordPress, as my hosting account enables me to install the basic blog with one click on a chosen domain. It is then just a process of adding content, plugins, and improving the design with a new theme. It is always easier to sell a blog or website with a proven traffic flow, and the prices are higher too.

These are some of the relatively easy methods that allow you to use the power of domain names to make a decent passive income stream over time. You can find more detail on this subject on my website, earnmoreweighless.com.

How to Choose and Register New Domain Names

You have spent a good deal of time deciding what your online presence is going to look like. You know what your niche is, you have decided on a business name and a tag line.  You may even have your artwork and logo complete. But, did you spend much time deciding what your domain name is going to convey to visitors and search engines? Your domain name is a critical part of your web presence and the choosing of your domain name is more important than it may seem at first. Here are some basics to consider:

Definition: A domain name, also known as a web address or URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is the alpha-numeric representation for your website that allows people and search engines to easily locate you on the internet.

Parts:  A domain is broken into several different parts. The http:// is not part of the domain itself; rather it is part of the URL, or Uniform Resource Locator. The www (World Wide Web) is the subdomain which appears before the domain name that you ultimately choose.  The .com is called the top level domain, of which there are only about 200 or so. The most common top level domains are of course, .com, .org, and .net.

Case: A domain name is case insensitive. If you register “mydomain.com” in lower case, someone else cannot come along behind you and register the same domain in upper or mixed case. This means that people can get to your site using upper, lower, or mixed case. It is important to note that the current version of the Safari browser sometimes has difficulties setting up cookies due to mixed case domain names, so it is a good habit to purchase all of your domain names in lower case.

Choosing Your Domain Name – Or, Getting the Most Bang for the Buck: Domain names are not expensive these days, but what will ultimately cost you is choosing a domain name that really means nothing. If your visitors don’t know what myllc dot com means, how can a search engine possible figure it out?  We recommend GoDaddy as your domain registrar and hosting because we like the simplicity of their platform and the feature rich applications can get you up and running on the web very quickly. All that being said, good (and short) domain names are getting harder and harder to come by as people begin to utilize the power of the web. With a little thought and some digging around, you can find what you need.

  • Avoid dashes in your domain name if possible.
  • Consider the plural singular issue. Will people commonly confuse your domain by adding an “s” or removing the ending “s”? If so, considering registering both and re-directing the one that you don’t use to the one that you do use.
  • Go for the “.com” extension whenever possible as your primary domain. This is still the most popular to level domain for businesses. For non-profits or other organizations, you will be best served by the “.org” extension. I always suggest that you purchase as many extensions as possible (.net, .org, .biz, etc.) to keep your brand safe and to also allow you to have other extensions to use for different products or services within your brand.
  • Make your domain make sense and be easy to pronounce. If your domain name is a nonsensical word  or combination of words that don’t make much sense to people, they are not going to be able to remember the. If people feel silly pronouncing a poorly chosen domain name, they are unlikely to discuss it with other people. By making your domain name both easy to remember and easy to say, you will have a much easier time getting it found in the search engines and promoting it among people who eventually form part of your online community.
  • Consider purchasing variations or mis-spellings of your domain name. You can use these as re-directs to make sure you pick up as much traffic as possible.

And lastly, if your aim is to become an online entrepreneur, and to ultimately have people doing keyword searches on your own name, be absolutely sure to purchase at least the top level extensions of your name. You do not want somebody with evil intentions purchasing your name. Your name is your brand and should be managed by you. Even if you don’t have any intentions of building a website or blog under your own name, be sure to make sure you own it.
